Duct Leakage Testing
We pressure-test the duct system with a calibrated fan, measure leakage against the requirement for the project’s scope and code cycle, and file the CF2R/CF3R documentation in CHEERS. Rough-in or final; changeouts, new systems, and full new construction.
Pass-first-time prep checklist
- Seal boots to drywall or subfloor; mastic beats tape at collars, plenum corners, and the air handler cabinet — the back of the furnace is the most common leak point we see.
- Mind flexible-duct connections at zip ties and takeoffs; strap and support runs so joints aren’t under tension.
- Have the filter installed and the filter access airtight; leave registers accessible for sealing during the test.
- If the system may qualify for an exemption (previously certified system, short runs, asbestos-sealed ducts), tell us when booking — the documentation path is different and cheaper than a failed appointment.
Failed tests get a written, photo-supported punch list on site — your crew fixes it while the equipment is still on the truck, and we retest without drama.
